Safety & Use
Read this before you operate the launcher. The operator is responsible for lawful and safe use.
General operating guidance for the ShirtShooter.co launcher.
This is an entertainment and event device. It is not life-safety, rescue, emergency or certified safety equipment, and it is not a firearm. It must never be relied on to protect anyone or to perform any safety function.
Read the instructions first
Read the operating instructions that come with the unit before you use it, and follow them. If anything is unclear, email [email protected] before you pressurise or fire it.
Inspect before every use
Check the unit before each event:
- Look over the tank, valve, fittings, barrel and launch tube for cracks, wear, leaks or loose parts.
- Check that all connections are tight and that nothing has been cross-threaded.
- Do not use a unit that is damaged, leaking or modified. Get it inspected or repaired first.
Use the correct pressure source and proper operating practice
- Use the pressure source and operating range specified in the instructions. Do not exceed the rated pressure.
- Fill and pressure the unit only in a safe place, away from the crowd.
- Keep your hands, face and body clear of the muzzle and of any venting valve.
- Depressurise and vent the unit before storing it, transporting it or working on it.
Keep a clear line of fire
- Point the launcher only where you intend it to go, and only when you can see the whole path of the projectile.
- Never point it at anyone's face, at anyone who is not expecting it, or at anyone who is very close to the muzzle.
- Never fire at people or animals in an unsafe manner. Do not fire at vehicles, glass, windows or anything breakable.
- Stop firing immediately if anyone walks into the firing path, if a projectile misfires or jams, or if anything about the unit feels wrong.
Use suitable projectiles only
- Use soft, light, purpose-made items such as rolled t-shirts and soft giveaways that fit the launch tube.
- Do not fire hard, sharp, heavy, metal or improvised objects, and do not modify the unit to accept them.
- Do not use the device to deliver anything that could hurt someone on landing.
Follow venue and local rules
- Get permission from the venue, school, league or site owner before you use the launcher.
- Follow all local laws and any venue-specific rules about launching or throwing items, including anything the crowd's own safety rules require.
- Some venues will want the launcher checked in, or will want it used only at certain moments. Respect that.
Adult supervision and operation
- Operate the launcher as an adult, or under direct adult supervision where local rules and the venue allow it.
- Keep children away from the pressurised unit, the muzzle and the projectiles.
- Brief the crowd if the giveaway is part of the show so nobody is surprised.
Operator responsibility
The operator is responsible for lawful and safe use of the launcher, and for the way it is used at the event. You are also responsible for any requirement the venue, league, school or authority places on you. Use good judgement: if launching something does not look safe in your venue, do not launch it.
